AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE

The art of aromatherapy is used to restore the harmony of the mind, body and soul.

Aromatherapy is an ancient art, initially practiced by Egyptian physicians who learnt how to distil pure essential oils from natural plants. Essences are extracted from the petals, stems, seeds and stalks.

 

Essential oils can be used for healing, cleansing and relaxation. Pure essential oil is the vital ingredient in any type of aromatherapy treatment.

With this massage we aim to treat the whole person, to improve your physical and emotional wellbeing using the power of plants. Essential oils are massaged into the skin using light, flowing hand movements. You can select the type of oil depending on how you would like to feel, such as relaxed or energised.

Following your treatment it is recommended that you do not shower for at least 8 to 24 hrs. This will ensure the oils have enough time to take full effect.

BACK, NECK & SHOULDER MASSAGE

This massage focuses on the back, neck and shoulders using Swedish massage techniques that are specifically designed to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and remove toxins and other metabolic waste from your body.

 

It consists of 5 movements that work together on your nerves, muscles, glands and circulation. Massage strokes can be done at your request - either to invigorate or relax you, using a light or medium pressure.

 

Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscle strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable, smoothing out knots and areas of tension.

 

Swedish massage also stimulates and soothes the skin and nervous system. Stress levels will feel reduced, both emotionally and physically. It is a wonderfully relaxing and tension relieving treatment.  

Back Massage

HOT STONES MASSAGE

Our hot stones massage has to be one of the most enjoyable and therapeutic massages available. For hundreds of years it has been used by many different cultures and the same techniques are still applied today to provide a deeply nurturing massage designed to work on muscle tension and wellbeing.

 

This treatment uses smooth basalt rocks that have been heated in water - some stones are wrapped in towels and placed on specific energy centres, known as chakras, along the body to align and re-balance the body’s natural energy flow, whilst other stones are used by the therapist to perform the massage stokes.

 

The heat of the stones penetrates deep into the muscle tissue allowing the muscles to relax much quicker than in a standard body massage, easing muscle tension and revitalising the muscle tissue by increasing blood circulation.

 

This deep relaxation and increased blood flow to the areas being worked on not only accelerates any healing processes but also creates a state of deep mental relaxation. This is a truly luxurious massage for mind, body and spirit. 

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Indian head massage is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years.

 

It aims to release the stress that's accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, scalp, face, neck, shoulders and back. We use a range of different movements including the application of deep kneading and compression movements, also gently stimulating and stroking the pressure points on the face.

 

Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling revitalised and better able to concentrate.

 

Indian head massage helps to increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products.

At The B Beauty Salon we have been specially trained in pregnancy massage and so we know what safe practice is for you and your baby.

 

The benefits of this massage include relaxation, reduced stress levels, relief from muscle cramps, spasms, and myofascial pain, especially in the lower back, neck, hips, and legs. It will also increase blood and lymph circulation which can reduce swelling and stress on weight-bearing joints. It enhances the pliability of skin and the underlying tissues.

 

During this treatment, the massage table will be set up for you to lie in a semi-reclining position. This is not only comfortable but safe for you and your baby. We will assist you to turn from side to side to massage your back and hips, using body pillows, wedge pillows and extra padding to support you.

Pregnancy safe products are used at all times. 

This is a soothing and relaxing treatment for all expectant Mums.

Reiki can have long term beneficial changes and can be used to relieve symptoms of chronic illnesses such as anxiety, insomnia, back pain and arthritis. Aside from treating physical, mental and emotional problems, most clients report that a Reiki treatment feels wonderful and promotes a sense of relaxation and wellbeing. In most cases the practitioner will suggest a course of 4, 6 or 12 treatments for maximum benefit, depending on the condition being treated.

 

Please note that although most people feel peaceful and relaxed after this treatment, it can stir up emotions as part of the healing process. 

REIKI HEALING

The word Reiki means ‘universal life energy’ in Japanese. Reiki therapy is based on the premise that illness is caused by a disruption in the body’s energy field or life force. By channelling this energy it is believed that the body can be filled with positive life force, causing the disease-making negative energy to disappear.

 

Reiki heals by charging negatively affected parts of the energy field with positive energy. Energy fields in the body each have different vibratory levels and Reiki practitioners use their hands to affect and hopefully rebalance these vibrations in the negatively affected part of the body.

 

Remaining fully clothed, you will be asked to prepare for treatment by relaxing on a massage couch, or sitting if that's more comfy. We will then hold our hands over the body in a sequence of positions, each one being held for a couple of minutes. Alternatively, we may work ‘absently’, or away from the body. Some people report feeling intense heat from the practitioner's hands doing this process. Our aim is to provide a gentle, warming, vital energy that's appropriate for each recipient.

PURE BLISS REIKI MASSAGE & HEALING

Pure Bliss is a full body treatment which combines Reiki healing and massage. Reiki is a Japanese healing practice which aims to free up unbalanced energy flow in your body. It can help with any physical, emotional or spiritual problem, calming the body and mind.

 

Reiki uses a light touch of hands over the body followed by massage stokes to apply more pressure and ease the muscles. You will feel a beautiful energy flow through your body, which will help to re-tune and bring balance and harmony.

REFLEXOLOGY FOOT THERAPY

60 minutes - £50

Reflexology is a complementary health therapy that applies gentle

pressure to the reflex points found in the feet and hands. It can be effective in 

promoting deep relaxation, reducing stress and optimising good health.

 

It's a type of massage known to have been practised by the Chinese and Egyptians 

several thousand years ago and is based on the theory that such reflex points connect to

certain organs and body systems. By treating the feet, the body is treated as a whole.

Reflexology does not claim to be a 'cure-all' but many people have reported that they have been helped by it. Surveys carried out by The British Reflexology Association have shown benefits such as reducing pain, stress, insomnia and anxiety; lifting mood, improving general wellbeing, boosting immunity and correcting hormonal imbalances.  

For your first reflexology session we will take a detailed medical history. You will be seated and your feet will be examined and then soothed in a bowl of warm floral water, flower petals and essential oils. This will last around 15 minutes to soothe away any aches. Following this, your foot massage will begin, applying a firm pressure to both feet using the side and end of the thumbs.

 

Areas corresponding to parts of the body that are out of balance will feel uncomfortable or tender when massaged and the degree of tenderness will indicate the degree of imbalance. The sensitivity of the feet varies from person to person and our trained practitioner will understand the correct pressure to apply and how to interpret the tendernesses felt. The massage should not be uncomfortable to even the most sensitive of feet.

 

The full treatment session will last approximately an hour and at the end of a session the feet should feel warm and relaxed. The number of treatment sessions required will vary depending on the condition being treated.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Deep tissue massage is one of the best choices when it comes to treating muscular

injuries, bad backs, stiff necks or for those who generally like a deeper massage. 

 

It uses the weight of the therapist's body to reduce tension and stretch ligaments and

tendons. During your deep tissue massage your muscles will be flushed of all toxins,

helping to improve your muscle flexibility and joint mobility.

 

 

Regular treatments can help break down scar tissue, remove the build-up of toxins, improve mobility and reduce the risk of further injury.

 

Unlike Swedish massage therapy which is used for relaxation, deep tissue massage can help with specific problems.

Back Massage

SWEDISH MASSAGE

The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and remove toxins and other metabolic waste from your body.

 

It consists of 5 movements that work together on your nerves, muscles, glands and circulation. Massage strokes can be done either to invigorate or to relax you.

You will be completely covered with soft towels during this treatment, save for the area of the body to be massaged.

WARM OIL MASSAGE

60 minutes - £50

light to medium pressure for relaxation using light hand strokes (effleurage)

Our aromatherapy massage is performed using one of our heated soy wax candles, allowing for sheer relaxation and deeper heat to help ease tired muscles and minds .

Holistic Therapy After Care Advice

 

After a treatment your body might show some of the following reactions:

• stiffness, aching muscles, tiredness

• frequent visits to the toilet, this allows your body to get rid of waste

• runny nose/coughing, this allows your body to get rid of toxins

• headache

• your body is in a repairing phase and might take some time to re-adjust.

These reactions should clear in the next 24 to 48 hours.

 

DO NOT:

1. Have a heavy meal after a treatment - allow 4 to 6 hours. Your body is in a healing state and is thus resting - massage stimulates the digestive system and therefore might make you feel nauseous.

2. Drink a lot of caffeine drinks (tea, coffee, red bull) or stimulants - allow 12 to 24 hours. Alcohol might cause dehydration.

3. Smoke - allow 12-24 hours.

4. Rush around / exercise vigorously - allow a few hours. This will limit the effects of the massage.

5. Ignore your body's messages. You might feel faint, tired and/or thirsty.

 

DO:

1. Relax for a while after a treatment. Have a bath to continue the relaxation process or listen to soft relaxing music.

2. Give feedback to the therapist about the treatment.

3. Wrap up warmly. You might feel cold after a treatment.

4. Take care when driving home as your reflexes might be slower. You may feel faint or tired.

5. Drink plenty of water, fruit juice or herbal teas.  Your body might have been drained of lymphatic waste and toxins which may result in being thirsty and the water will help flush all the waste and toxins away.  Water will help the detoxifying process and to rehydrate your body.

6. Pay attention to general posture. Sitting up and walking straight is of importance.

7. Have a nap or rest if you can - it will make the muscles relax and make the massage last longer.

 

Regular massage treatments are highly recommended for maximum and long lasting health benefits.
